ACTION & EXCITEMENT AT AWANA GRAND PRIX 

While it was cloudy and overcast outside on February 23, 2008, the weather was perfect for racing inside Bridgeview Elementary Center’s gym. AWANA Commander Jeff Jenkins started the event by describing the different color flags used in NASCAR races and how we could apply the same color flags to our Christian race. The action soon heated up after our competitors stepped up to get the racing under-way for another year.  

One of the most exciting races took place during the Turtle Race. Everyone held their collective breath as we watched (and waited) to see if Amy’s car would eventually cross the finish line. We made it through the day with good sportsmanship and without any major car crashes.  

Awards were presented to the first, second and third place finishers in both the Speed and Design categories, as well as recognizing the Slowest Car in the infamous Turtle Race. The official results are listed below.  Click here for AWANA Grand Prix Photos
