February 6 – DEAD OR ALIVE NIGHT

During Council Time, T-N-T Boys Leader Mike Steadman tells us how to become proud members of the “CSI” (Christ Saved Individuals) team!

February 13 – LOVE AND PEACE NIGHT

Groovy! It’s not a flashback from the 1960’s (or is it?) Let’s see who wears their tie-dyed T-shirts and their bell-bottom jeans tonight!

February 20 – FRIENDS NIGHT

Invite your buddies to experience AWANA with you! You can show them how to have some real fun in church.

February 27 – FUNNY FACE NIGHT

Turn that frown upside down! What makes you smile most … Game Time, Book Time, or Council Time?

AWANA Grand Prix Workshops

Saturday, February 9 and Saturday, February 16

10 AM to Noon

We’ve scheduled two more workshops if you need some work done on your car. Come to the church on either day and receive help from our trusty and handy-dandy pit crew. ___________________________________

Alpine Bible Camp News - - -

Junior Camp will be the week of August 4 – 9, 2008!

We enjoyed hearing from John Skaggs and the other Alpine Bible Camp leaders on January 23. Want to go to camp this summer? By completing sections in your handbook, you can earn “Alpine Bucks” to apply to your camp registration fees. See Ms. Beth in T-N-T Girls or any AWANA leader for more details!!

Saturday, February 23 – AWANA GRAND PRIX RACE

Cheer your favorites on and find out who’s car is the fastest (Speed), the most creative (Design), and the slowest (Turtle Race) on the track!

Have a heart and be sure to buy one (or as many as you want)! The contest actually started on January 30^th but continues throughout the entire month of February.

Your leaders will announce the total amount of money we collected in the upcoming weeks. And if we reach our goal of $100, we will have a special treat for all our clubbers!

Commander’s Corner

When you stand in front of a camera, the photographer will sometimes ask you to say “cheese”. It’s a great way to get you to smile. We have so much fun in AWANA that it gives you a reason to smile each week! I am especially looking forward to two activities during the month of February.

One event is our annual “HEARTS” contest. It only takes a quarter to buy a construction paper heart. Write a special message on it and watch it go up on the bulletin board. We hope to fill up the entire space with hearts! Best of all, our entire offering goes to support a missionary cause and you can smile because you’re giving to help others.

The other big activity is our AWANA Grand Prix race. This year, it will be held on February 23 at Bridgeview. It’s always a good time for the whole family. I enjoy sitting at the announcer’s table, calling the racers up to start each race and telling them which lane they are in. Even if you don’t have a car to race, we encourage you to come on out and root on the racers!

Valentines Day is also in February. We all know how good a grilled cheese sandwich is when it is all “ooey and gooey” on the inside! This month would be an excellent chance to share God’s great love with those around you! Bring a new friend to AWANA or tell one of your family members that God loved us so much that He sent Jesus, His only Son, into the world.

Give everyone a reason to ask you why you are smiling so much! Say “cheese”!!
