December 2007

Celebrate the birth of Jesus!

Luke 2:13 & 14 tells us:

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men”.

December’s calendar doesn’t disappoint!

Recap of: South Charleston Christmas Parade – December 1st

Over 40 people (clubbers, leaders and volunteers) walked along the parade route, representing Spring Hill Baptist Church and our AWANA ministry. The weather was beautiful and we appreciate everyone who participated! For more details and photos, go to our website (www.shbcwv.com) and click on the link under “What’s New” on the home page!

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift.

That’s why we call it the present!

“O Come Let Us Adore Him” --  Boys and girls, that's a line from “O Come All Ye Faithful”, a favorite Christmas Carol that we sing each year. What does it mean?

When we adore something, we recognize how special it is and we put it before everything else. We give it special attention. It's likely your parents adore you. You are special to them and they put you before other things they could be doing.

The Christmas Carol is of course talking about Jesus Christ. We celebrate His birth at this time of year and we should certainly adore Him.

AWANA clubbers, let's take time this Christmas to adore Him!  Let's try to think about Him more than anything else this Christmas. Oh, I know it's a lot of fun to get Christmas gifts! I like to get them and open them too, but let's not forget the reason for Christmas and the greatest gift ever given, Jesus Christ!

He was born to die on the cross for our sins and He died that so we could live forever. He is the greatest gift ever given!

O Come Let Us Adore Him!      Merry Christmas AWANA Clubbers!
