Sign of the Times
Everywhere you turn, there seems to be a sign directing you to someone, something or somewhere. Spring Hill Baptist Church proudly displayed its activities in April 2008, which is definitely a good sign.
The
month began with Shoney's of Dunbar recognizing us as their "Church of the
Week." Other notable events included a baby shower for Jason & Sarah
Frazer on April 5 and the Ladies Lucia Circle meeting on April 8. Mike,
Kellie and Abby Steadman were featured in a skit on April 13 which helped to
illustrate Pastor Mark's evening message.
Our teens traveled to Columbus, OH on April 18-19 to attend
the Regional Teens Involved competition, hosted by Northwest Chapel. Individual
and groups performances were judged for a spot at the next level of competition
and seven of our events qualified and earned trophies.
The award winners were: Caitlyn Collins - for Senior High Poetry; Allison Whitener - for Junior High Female Solo Vocalist and Gospel based Web Design; Tommy Jenkins - for Junior High Instrumentalist; Stevie Jenkins - for Junior High Male Solo Vocalist; Junior High Drama Team and Junior High Puppets.
The Joyful Ringers made their way to participate in the 2008 Greater Kanawha Valley Handbell Festival on April 19. Several of our dedicated folks trained and practiced all day which concluded in an afternoon concert with over 100 individual ringers. Fresh from that experience, the Joyful Ringers treated our congregation to a mini-concert during the April 20 evening service. We were also blessed through the special music presented by Kay Damron on that same night.
