SUNDAY SCHOOL AWARDS ARE "SWEET"
As part of our 5th Sunday Fellowship, a combined Sunday School class of 130 attended the annual awards ceremony on September 30, 2007. Superintendent Tom Whitener spoke about being "SWEET" using passages from I Peter 5:2-4.
Members of our congregation were acknowledged for achieving either perfect attendance by missing no Sunday School during the year or faithful attendance by missing only one or two Sundays during the year. The Sunday School year is counted from September 2006 through August 2007. For a complete list of honorees, please see below.
Twenty seven students were recognized for their efforts and received attendance pins. Additional emphasis is also placed on those individuals who have attained consecutive years of perfect attendance in 5 year increments. This year, Kay Hundley received a special plaque to acknowledge her 10 consecutive years of perfect attendance.Sandy Milam was also singled out for having 22 consecutive years of perfect attendance.
Finally, we took time to honor a man who has truly made a commitment to Sunday School. Dave Greear received a standing ovation and a special Sunday School award for having 40 years of perfect attendance. He is also selected as our October 2007 Member of the Month. Click here to read more.
